Interview with Nell Watson

Nell Watson FBCS, FIAP, FRSA is an engineer, entrepreneur, and futurist thinker who grew up in Northern Ireland. She has a longstanding interest in the philosophy of technology, and how extensions of human capacity drive emerging social trends. Nell lectures globally on Machine Intelligence, AI philosophy, Human-Machine relations, and the Future of Human Society, serving as Associate Faculty of AI Robotics at Singularity University.” She is also Co-Founder of OpenEth.org, an ‘ethical explication engine’ that aims to crowdsource ethical heuristics for autonomous systems.We grabbed her for a quick chat after her talk at NextM.

Interview with Molly Swenson

Molly is on the founding team at RYOT, an LA-based media company, acquired in April 2016 by Huffpost/AOL. She was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 2017 list in Media, and was named one of Ad Week’s Young Influentials. Molly was RYOT’s first hire, and as COO, led all sales, operations and financings from launch to acquisition. Molly was a producer on RYOT’s Oscar nominated short documentary Body Team 12, and on the Peabody finalist Gardeners of Eden, and has worked on dozens of award-winning VR films and documentaries. Before RYOT, Molly designed and managed philanthropic strategies for celebrities such as Ben Stiller, Shakira and Kobe Bryant. While working at The Obama White House, identifying candidates for political appointment, she made it to the Top 50 on Season 10 of American Idol. She has been written about in The New Yorker, Entrepreneur, The Seattle Times, The Washington Post and has been a keynote speaker at CES, SXSW, Cannes Lions and TEDxBerlin.

Interview with Kate Stone

With a degree in Electronics and a PhD in Physics from Cambridge University; Dr Kate Stone founded the award winning lab Novalia to explore the space where traditional print conventional electronics converge. Dr Kate wants to infuse our current analogue world with electronics so that everything looks like it always has, except that it can come alive through interaction. Imagine a world where a teenager’s bedroom poster comes to life with the launch of a new album, or an LP that enables you to DJ from the actual record sleeve itself, or a notebook that plays musical notes? This is the world Dr Kate is creating – by adding ‘digital soul’ to everyday flat surfaces that we take for granted, she is changing the world as we know it. Using her patented interactive print, Dr Kate is adding interactivity capacitive touch to everything from hats and mandalas through to packaging and books – connecting them to the internet.We had her in for a chat at the NextM studio.
